About the Artist

I was born to be a “maker.”

It’s my way of expressing myself; my way of talking and telling stories.

In my process of creating, my brain is like a kaleidoscope of the world around me.

What I take in gets melted down and mixed with other things.

These ideas get turned into something new...from me.

When I discovered the world of ball-jointed dolls, I was drawn to these dolls like a moth to a flame. I saw a whole new world of imagination and possibilities. With BJDs, it wasn’t just the clothes that could be changed, but the eyes and hair and so much more!

My attraction went beyond these exterior alternatives. I’ve always been drawn to moving parts, and all these different types of joints were delicious to my soul. My 12-year-old brain could see the deeper details of how these dolls were made, and I saw so many ideas of things I could and wanted to make!

Through the process of learning to make BJDs, I gained a deeper appreciation for our Creator. I could see that it went deeper than just being “made.” There was design and purpose in every part. I find it fascinating to see how tiny details fit together and make things work. There is a process in creation, and it’s an on-going cycle.

We are each uniquely designed and engineered to be a part of that cycle.

Nothing was created just to be created.

We all have purpose and meaning.

We are the details.

We are the moving parts that fit together.
